Mr.
Balcom is from Amherst, Nova Scotia.
Mr. Balcom was appointed to the
Commission June 2001 and was appointed
Chairman effective April 1, 2003.
Mr. Balcom is Principal of
the Amherst Regional High School
and is a harness racing enthusiast.
Mr. Balcom has and continues to
own and race horses throughout
the Maritimes.
Mr. Balcom serves on the Education
and Financial Committees of the
Maritime Provinces Harness Racing
Commission and has been instrumental
in developing recruitment and
training sessions for Race Officials
throughout the Maritime Provinces.

Mr.
Mr. Newan is involved in the harness racing industry as an Owner, Trainer and Driver. Mr. Newman has held various positions in Sales and owned and operated a successful Automotive Supply business prior to his retirement.

Mr.
Dalling is from Saint John, New
Brunswick. Mr. Dalling was appointed
to the Commission April 2001.
Mr. Dalling is a retired school
teacher and has been involved
in the harness racing industry
for a number of years serving
as a Senior Judge in Saint John,
Fredericton and Woodstock.
Mr. Dalling serves on the Rules
Committee of the Maritime Provinces
Harness Racing Commission and
played a huge role in the development
of a comprehensive Rule Book for
the Maritime Provinces.

Mr.
Sullivan is from Moncton, N.B.
Mr. Sullivan was appointed to
the Commission April, 2001.
Mr. Sullivan, recently retired
as Assistant City Manager of The
City of Moncton after 32 years
of service. A lawyer by profession,
Mr. Sullivan recently returned
to the practice of law as an Associate
in The Murphy Group, a Law and
Consulting Firm in Moncton. "Mike"
has been involved in the harness
racing industry as an Owner, Breeder
and the Moncton and Area Standardbred
Horse Owners Association. He has
also served on the Provincial
Appeal Boards for the Maritime
Provinces Harness Racing Commission.
Mr. Sullivan serves on the Rules
Committee of the Commission and
played a huge role in the development
of our revised and comprehensive
Rule Book for the Maritime Provinces.

Mr. Smith from Pownal, PEI and was appointed to the commission in May 2008.
Mr. Smith graduated from N.S.A.C. in Truro, N.S. in 1957 and received his B.S.C (Animal Science) from McGill University in 1960.
Mr. Smith was the founding Manager of Agro Co-op in Charlottetown, PEI. He has been in the building supply business since 1969 as President and General Manager until 2007.
Mr. Smith has served as President of the PEI and MAritime Hereford Breeders Assoc., Kinsmen Club of Charlottetown, Prov. Exhibition Assoc. PEI, Hillsboro Trotting Club, Charlottetown Driving Park Assoc., Tip Top Truss Ltd., H & S Holdings Ltd., MacMillan Bldg Supplies Ltd., Castle Building Centres Group Ltd., Atlantic Standardbred Breeders Assoc. He has also served as Director of the Canadian Hereford Assoc.- Calgary, Bank of Canada - Ottawa, PEI Development Corporation - Charlottetown, and Pownal Sports Centre.
Has held memberships in the USTA, CTA, PEI Standardbred Horse Ownders Assoc., Atlantic Building Supplies Deal's Assoc., Construction Assoc. of PEI, and Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce.
Established Dunachton Farms in Pownal where they bred Registered Hereford cattle and Standardbred horses. Exhibiting cattle in all Maritime shows and fairs as well as at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.
Dunachton Farms has enjoyed considerable success in standardbred breeding having bred and sold yearling colts and fillies that went on to be two and three year olds "Colts of Fillies of the Year" as well as establishing many track records.

Shaw is from Summerside, PEI.
Mr. Shaw was appointed to the
Commission April 2003.
Mr. Shaw is a retired school principal
and is involved in the harness
racing industry as an Owner and
Trainer.
Mr. Shaw serves on the Education
